Hey all,

I just got a 93 Miata for my DD and I've casually scoping out an rx7 project car for the weekends. I know the market for these is shifting back up due to the FDs hitting classic status, but I'm still looking. I'll be lurking around to see the do's and don'ts of 7 life, but any beginner resources on rotary quirks and costs would be welcome!

Its important to decide what you want, where you would like to go, and what kind of ownership you like to have. Some of the different types could be:

- Because Racecar: Moneypit where you love to spend money on parts you really dont need, but want anyways, engine upgrades, body upgrade, suspension upgrades. you name it, but ultimatley a street driven car.
- Racecar: The real deal where comfort is out the window, and so is your interior. You want to go fast, either on the straights or round corners.
- Weekend warrior (and backup daily driver): Tinker and modify, within reason. taken to the local Auto-X a few times a year, but mostly taunting the odd muscle car at stoplights. The car is supposed to be used.
- OEM Purist: Attention to detail and the tasteful mods that Mazda intended, no huge intercoolers or single turbos. Possible more at home with a detailers brush that a wrench. You will spend time and money to get every detail perfect.

Just looking at your mint NA (i got one of those as well.Ii got the FD first but needed something i had the heart to abuse), and clean Volvo, i think you are somewhat in the last category (same as me).
In that case low milage and/or mostly stock. would do the trick. Buying a tricky and modded project car is a steep learning curve for the newbie rotary owner, if you get in to trouble.
I started out with a stock car, and i know every thing done to it, so i feel pretty safe and in control of whats going on with it
