Greetings from Oregon

Hello, my name is Charles and I live in Southern Oregon. The time has come for me to start working on a project ‘79 RX-7 that I’ve had for over a year now. I picked it up super cheap ($200) and the guy I bought it from said it needed a full rebuild of the engine. It was missing the radiator, coils, and the battery, and the starter was in the back of the car, but other than that it seemed like the engine and car were complete and in decent condition, so I threw it on a trailer, hauled it home, and then it sat for a year while life happened. Recently, I got used coils and a new radiator from eBay. I also picked up a new battery. I have someone looking at the starter right now, but it looks like I might need a replacement after all. Right now I’m scouring this forum, looking for some sort of tutorial on how to install the radiator. I think the radiator hoses are fine, but I’m not sure how the oil cooler will mount to this new radiator.

I’m pretty sure once I get the starter back and everything else is bolted on and I put some coolant in it, I shouldn’t have that much of an issue getting it started. Even though the guy said it needed a rebuild, it definitely has compression when I turn it over by hand at the crank. I have had two other first gens (about fifteen years ago) and I have rebuilt one engine and tore down half a dozen, so I have a little experience working on these cars. Any help would be appreciated though!

I’ve checked these forums for help in the past, so I’m glad I can finally be a part of this community!

-Charles
