long timer lurker finally introducing myself
Sooooooo this is my first venture into rx7/rotary land. Ive helped friends work on their rx7's but I personally have never actually owned one. I picked up this 1987 GXL you see before you for 900 bucks from a guy in Seattle. Clean title, running, and it came with a spare motor and tranny....but the coolant seals were roached. Ive had the car maybe 8 months now and I have since rebuilt it with Atkins seals and a mild street port. After i got it running and driving next up was a header, d2 coilovers, FD wheels and getting the 5th and 6th ports working with an RPM switch.
I just picked up a miata transmission this past weekend and I'm pretty hyped to get that done because I cant stand how long the gears are in the stock tranny....and no one needs to go like 150 mph in a tin can from 1987 LOL.
The car is super rad and fun to drive... although it took some getting used to, because I hail from ae86 land and the rx7 is pretty big in comparison.
I'm excited to continue this build....especially when I see how active this forum is in comparison to club4ag.
