Long time fd lover!

Always been a fan of the Fd! Recently sold my 92 sc300 5sp and bought a 2004 wrx and got an offer to trade for a 94 fd roller with an engine that needs to be dropped in. Always wanted an rx7 and thought about buying a fc a few years ago. Now I have the opportunity to own an FD and I'm pretty excited. Just need to do my research and find out if its worth it.

My best advice is find out what all comes on the roller since there are different versions of "roller" depending on person. If it only needs the motor/trans dropped back in ask why it was pulled in the first place and try to get a compression test if its still together if you can if not assume it needs a rebuild. If its blown, you're going to need a rebuild(2-5k+ depending on what you need) which would put the roller in the 5-9k range depending on if its base, touring, R2, 100% stock, tastefully moded, or hacked up. So I hope that helps you figure out if trading a running driving car for one that might sit a little.

The car has everything required to run except the engine mount bolts. The current owner bought it as a roller and purchased a motor out of a running car that he personally drove. It has a Fmic, power fc, hks pods, greddy elbow, castles do. The body is in great shape along with the interior. Should be picking it up sunday so I'll have pics when I do!

Yes, pics please! There’s a guy in my area also selling roller with motor, but not sure if I should jump on it since motor looks like it’s been sitting there for some time. The roller sounds in similar condition to yours too, would you mind telling me what he valued it at? Thanks

i don't know guys. 10k is a lot to pay for a car that u can't drive and check things out like trans, rearend, brakes, driveline noises/vibrations, wheel bearings, no electrical issues, etc. it could end up being nothing but one big headache. buying someone elses project that they decided to sell because it ended up being more than they could handle or problems they weren't expecting. so they said *** this pos. but good luck and i hope u end up with a killer ride once it's all said and done.

I've got 5700 in my wrx, from a value standpoint, would it be a good deal?

What do you mean $5700 though? :o does that mean as far as mods/work done to your subi? Or is that what y’all are valuing your car for the trade?

If your meaning aftermarket goodies that’s a lot of money invested as well as time I’m sure It took to gwt it there. What kind of build do you have going on with it if you don’t mind me asking? Stage 2? Upgraded turbo? i’m just trying to get a better picture of what you’re trading for a non running rx7 you know

I bought the car for 5700, granted I got a hell of a deal but as far as total investment that's it.
