new owner/long time lover

having just bought myself a stock standard 12A s3 1984 RX7, i am head over heals in love with the thing.

However in its current state it is unroadworthy.

I need to track down a new diff and RH Rear Axle. I am unsure if i need to get a full rear axle or whther the rear axle is independant. Does anyone here know where i may be able to source these parts in Brisbane?

I have been told that a Hilux Diff will bolt in and that i should look at getting one. however, I am looking at installing a 13BT in the car and need to know whether the hilux diff will handle the power.

I will be stripping the paint this weekend and removing the 12A, then sending it down for a bare metal respray followed by a new engine/gearbox install.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

I also need to source a new dashboard/centre console/drivers seat.

I paid $2000 for this beauty. it drives really well in its current state. however i need the parts to get the thing registered.

Thanks in advance to all.

These cars are seductive, and IMHO the lines have a timeless beauty not unlike the Porsche 911. When a shape is right, it's right, and doesn't grow 'dated'.

I couldn't agree more. The classic lines of the 1 gen still look good today, and with some of cars currently being offered, they look even better now than they did 20+ years ago.

Yea, I'm fortunate enough to be able to own two different cars with timeless lines: the MGB and the RX-7. Neither looks outdated today, despite their age. I wish I could say the same for myself.

Pamela, with Savannah badges and tasteful period-correct 7 spoke '3 piece look' Enkei RSE rims, was often mistaken for a new model of Porsche. Says something about the styling!

I have people ask me too if my car was an old porsche. I proudly correct them in telling them that in fact it is a RX-7, not no pos porsche. lol

Meh - I take 'Porsche' as a compliment. If they asked if it was a Kia, OTOH...

i have the RH rear axle if you need it. i'd go to a local boneyard for one though, save on shipping.
