A little bit about my ol' Tejas self...
Well now. My name is Juan Manuelo Aguirre IV and I've decided to do the unthinkable. I need more info first, so I'm joining the site and the Facebook link made it easy! Thanks! I've been around rotaries since 1981 when my buddy decided to take a spin in a new one before he got the "traditional" High School ride of a Camaro Z-28. I rode in the hatch. It was fun getting thrown around and I never forgave him for getting the stupid Chevy, especially since I was a Pontiac guy.
Years pass, I make some $$$ and I've been playing with Pontiacs and Mazda RX-7's ever since. Unfortunately, I've mangled my share of first generation RX-7's but now it's time for something new now that I have proper driving legs.
I'm getting and FD and I'm doing a V8 swap...but not the complex LS1 route. I'm getting an IA aftermarket Pontiac aluminum block with ported Kauffman aluminum heads based on the almighty Ram Air IV Pontiac round-port cylinder heads. On top of all that goodness will be an Extrude-honed aluminum Tri-Power Pontiac manifold set up with an Accel EFI system....at 500+ cid, it should be good for 950 HP at the flywheel naturally aspirated and weigh about the same as the FD engine.
Or maybe it'd be better in an '82 RX-7.
Ok...time for some reading!

Hi, welcome. I'm also new, hope you find what you're looking for!
I think a V8 Swap is diiirty! But I was reading in a thread that they're kinda.. Looked down upon when it comes to RX-7s. Anyway, still will be something beautiful!

yea, you read a bit and you see all the guys all pissed off that a V8 has kicked the rotary engine out of the engine bay. And they don't get any happier when youre amking more hp and torque naturally aspirated than they can with one or two turbos. I dunno. Widebody FB. Crazy wide tires, cage to tighten it up and the aluminum engine beating up a custom Moser IRS rear end. yea.
