Just returned to rotaries after a 13 year hiatus

Hey all. I’m not new to rotaries. I’ve had a 1987 Turbo II from 2005-2008 and then 2 different FB Rx7s between 2008 and 2011.

I switched to tinkering with Miatas for a bit and the itch to come back to this wonderfully weird engine and community was just too strong and I finally found a car in my budget that wasn’t completely trashed.

so here is my 1990 GTU with a super low mile rebuild and a pretty mint interior and exterior thanks to a massive restoration undertaking the previous owner did. You’d never know it has 330k miles on it.

My last name is “Rowe” so this custom tag is extra special to me.

Welcome back! Those GTU's have interesting specs. I plan on doing my GXL further down the road as a moderized and modified GTU. For now it will be mostly stock.

Best wishes with you new adventure!

Welcome! 330k that is amazing! I would have believed that it had less than 80 by the pictures. The previous owners did an exceptional job restoring it. Love the plate...

Thanks all. My plans are to keep it 100% stock (maybe get a racing beat exhaust and keep the stock one in my basement) and then continue with some restoration finishing touches.

I believe the 5th and 6th ports aren’t actuating and my first major service will be removing the intake manifold and disassembling, cleaning, and lubricating all of the parts related. I’ll also change the fuel rail out to cross a fuel pulsation dampener concern off of my worry list (no idea when last changed) and I want to get another radiator as the black plastic end tank on mine is very discolored.

then it desperately needs new FTP lenses and front turn signal lenses.

last order of business will be having a body shop/PDR specialist work out any dents and dings and possibly repaint some things.
