alright guyz im new here... as you can tell by my posts... just picked up a 91 rx7 with a spotless body... its a turbo'd shell but with a na set up in it... got the car saturday for a 91 POS s10... anyway... it didnt run... once i got it running the rear cat was glowing red, meaning a bad catalytic converter... so i take the mid cat and the rear cat off and they r both shot... i also found out that the air flow meter is from the turbo'd model... it has that cone thing inside of it that slides in and out... i found out it wont run with it out, so i taped it so its pushed in... now once i get it running it idles at about 800 to 1k rpms (typical in my book) but as i press the gas it does not want to pick up rpms fast at all! and stops reving at 5k... (this is just the single cat on though, dont know if having a full exhaust on or not makes a difference...)
any idea what it could be?

what about the sensor plugs for them? i mean i saw a s4 harness, and its AFM... wasnt sure if the s5 had a different AFM or a different harness... like i said its a turbo'd chassis with a na motor... i dont know how much different the harnesses are
First off, WELCOME!
Next, where in Pittsburgh are you?
Finally, I feel that we are mis-communicating. S4 and S5 are different years, not TII and NA. I am not sure if this was made clear. If this was already understood, I meant no insult.
The Turbo II AFM should work fine with the NA motor. The AFM and boost sensor need to match the ECU. I believe the TII ECU and boost sensor and AFM will run an NA just fine.
If you do have a S4 NA in an S5 chassis, it is a little more complex. Please give more info on the swap!
Hope this helps,
Rob

CHeck the FAQ and go through the FSM (factory service manual).
It will tell you the correct readings for the TPS.
What happens when you disconnect the TPS? Does anything change?
Also, S5's have a limp mode that they will go into if the ECU sees something strange. I have little to no experience with S5's, so I can't really help you there.
I would suggest searching this in the regular 2nd gen technical section.
Feel free to PM me if you need some extra guidance.
