Just got my FD today
My name is Nate, and I am a Mazda fan/owner that is interested in learning more about RX7s and rotary engines in general. I am just really starting to do research, so I will be doing much more lurking than posting, but I wanted to say hi anyway. I'm on mazdaspeedforums.org all the time and was a moderator there for a while, so I know how to use the search button and I won't be asking many questions. I promise not to waste anyone's time just from being lazy.
A bit about mahself. I'm a proud husband and father of two, closer to 30 than I really want to be, and I've done nothing but car stuff for work and fun my whole life really. I'm honestly one of those losers that can't seem to interest myself in anything other than cars, so beware of trying to converse with me, as it may result in a lot of if you actually have a life. A short list of some things I've done and owned from 16 years old to now:
-helped restore my dad's 68 Chevy truck, slicked, slammed, and 383 stroker
-first "fun" car was a 1996 Mustang GT auto POS, but I got smarter fairly quickly
-worked in auto body paint and repair doing anything from mundane to show cars
-480whp 03 Cobra when I was single and drag raced a lot
-worked in a road race shop in Fort Worth, TX where we did custom suspension, performance alignments, corner balancing, etc. Worked on mostly Miatas, S2000s, and BMW E36/46s
-my wife's current car is a bolt-on/personally tuned black mica 2010 Mazdaspeed 3
-my current DD is a whitewater pearl 2006 Mazdaspeed 6, all stock except for some minor cosmetic things, but KW v2 coilovers and some things from Corksport are in the mail right now.
-my RX7 details are listed below.
-currently working in auto body, came back to the same shop after receiving a great offer for partnership
I like all types of cars from V8 RWD muscle cars to turbo-4 FWD and AWD imports, but with a particular fascination with the ones that aren't saturating the market, i.e. RX7/8 and Mazdaspeed 3/6. I also like all types of racing, so horsepower is no more important to me than handling. All around cars are the most impressive to me. I look forward to learning more about the RX8, and I hope to get my hands on one in the future. I'll attempt to post more helpful information than stupid questions, but I've been known to slip sometimes, so I apologize in advance if that happens.
TL;DR:
New guy, likes cars, here's pics of his cars.
Mine:
Wife's:
Here's some info on the '93 FD. 18k mile motor rebuild , compression check and tune-up done on 4/3 by Rotary Performance, new transmission, full suspension, Corbeau A4 seats, new front tires and wheels, 80%+ tread left in the rear, T04E single with HKS mani and DP, 300whp/224wtq on 8psi, 400whp capable with injector swap and retune. I've always wanted one of these cars, so I guess that this was just the time. I have the full parts list, and it comes out to >$10K in hardware alone.

Cool, the post finally cleared. Thanks very much, and I'll see you guys around. My car is in need of some serious TLC in the body and interior department, so I'll be hunting down lots of little odds and ends getting it ready for paint this year.
EDIT: If anyone has a trunk carpet for sale, I'm on the hunt for one. I took the speaker box out because I'd rather drive the car without 80lbs. in the back than listen to bass, plus I can't get to the spare very well with it in there.

Needs to be dropped about an inch, that's on the to do list. Since it has COs already, all it will take is time. Thanks for all the compliments guys, I'm buying parts left and right to get this thing restored. My goal is to have everything fixed/replaced and the car painted and finished show quality by year's end. I've almost gotten every interior piece that I need already, so it's getting off to a good start. Front bumper and fenders will be next (all OEM), then suspension tuning will start next year. Power mods and tuning shortly after the suspension is sorted. I'm so happy to have a project car.
