Just got my 1st RX7
Hello everyone, my name is Vic but most people call me Stick. About a month ago my brother bought his 2nd MR2 (91 with N/A 98 BEAMS engine) and we took it to JPR in El Monte, Ca where he bought his engine for his turbo MR2 to show the guys the rare engine. While we were there they started talking about an RX7 for sale and right away a light bulb turned on in my head. I have always though about getting one and have always thought that I'd have to have a rotary motor sooner or later. I started looking at the car and right away I thought it would be to much for me to afford. The owner of the car was in Japan buying motors, clips and a R33 nismo edition skyline and his worker told me that he wants to sell a few cars because he has a skyline now. Turns out the RX7 was really cheap and if I sold my car I could get it and have money to pay for registration.
The next few days were crazy because I had to sell my 06 Mazda 3. I was sad to sell my car that had been so good to me but I was excited to finally get a great Japanese sports car. Long story short, I sold the car and bought the RHD RX7 and drove it home.
Now that it's home I've just been cleaning up the interior and updating the plastics to the 99 stuff. I'm not looking for more power but I want to clean up the engine bay and remove some unwanted stuff. Other than that I just want to do suspension on it. Let me know if any of you pros out there have any good advice on removing smog stuff and unhelpful thongs in the engine bay.
Quick background on how I figured out about motors. When I was young I was always into cars because I have three older brothers. At around 10 my dad was rebuilding his el camino and I just hung out and listened to everything he said.
