Just another new guy
Hello everybody just another new guy. Never saw a rotary engine until a buddy of mine was having problems with an rx-7 he had in his garage for a couple of years that had trouble starting and would run ran rough as hell. All I remember is saying "what the hell is up with your spark plugs... why are they like that." "Its a rotary engine" he said. I went home that night and Wikipedia the rotary engine and fell in love with the idea. He was moving and just wanted to unload the car had some body damage so he sold it to me for $200 dollars. Well hear I am 2 months later been trolling the forums and gaining confidence I did a compression test on the motor and it failed. Pulled the engine and tore it apart found a collapsed apex seal and the rotor and housing were shot. Now I am convinced that I need to swap out this N/A and go with a turbo. Looks like I have some work ahead of me. Found some good threads that are pointing me in the right direction. The hardiest thing I am finding to get is a hood. I live in eastern Oregon and not a lot of junk yards have any rx-7's and no turbo's in them. If some one could help with locating a hood that would be awesome.
