I am new to this forum and i do not own an RX7 yet but i am looking to purchase one after the dreadful canadian winter that approaches.

Currently I drive a 92 Mazda b2200 kind of the opposite of the RX7, gutless as hell but dependable to no end.

I have worked in an automotive shop for a few years and look forward to setting up a home garage and purchasing an 3rd generation RX7 probably a 93-95. I am more looking to have a reliable (by RX 7 standards) moderately powerful car that's still streetable and can have some fun with on track days.

My biggest reason for Joining the forum is to ask if it's a good idea to import one in japan (something that is somewhat easily done in Alberta/British Columbia for about the same cost as local) or pick one up here in Edmonton?

I was also curious if there is much difference in the parts between the imports and North american models other than some interior and steering parts?

Lucas, welcome aboard to RX-7 Club. The kinds of questions you are asking will def have answers here, ya just gotta be a little patient as the 3rdgen guru's don't spend a whole bunch of time on this particular board. This board is about the person and not the car.

Read up on the sticky threads found at the top of the main index to this board to get up to speed on the various rules so you don't make the classic mistakes everyone seems to make as they join just looking for a car.

Hey my fellow Canadian brother, I too can't wait to own my own FD, recently just got an amazing job mining so the cash flow towards it should be coming in soon. And yes, the winters .. the salt, the ice, even more salt .. i dont think RX's would like it too much either.

P0ONJU, yeah i can agree, but atleast our mild summers make the overheating issue a slight bit less minor for a few months a year. Also a 2700lb RWD car would be terrifying on ice.
