Introducing my new 87 TII
Hallo everyone! My name is Grant. I just picked up a 1987 RX7 Turbo II last thursday. The story behind this car is actually quite interesting.
So before we start, I'm a college student, so almost every day I have to drive to school. I've been driving my Mum's car to school because my 89 S13 is... Let's put it nicely, not meant to be driven on the road. Every time I drive to school I always end up feeling like the journey is something that isn't exciting, it wasn't something that would get me up in the morning. I wished I could drive the S13, but it's missing too much normal every day stuff (like seatbelts, bumper support) etc. And overall the car just isn't in good shape.
So I'm driving to school, I take a detour, and whadd'ya know? A black RX7 is just sitting there with a for sale sign. I didn't really think too much of it, so I went about my day. I always wanted an RX7, especially a TII. I grew up watching Initial D (yeah, I'm that guy) and just had a genuine, yet virginal love for the rotary powerplant.
Last thursday (8/29/13) I drove by the car on my way home. I thought it would be nothing different, but I saw a for sale sign that said "$500" and I said "Alright, let's give the guy a call." So I wrote down the number and called him on my way to my girlfriend's house.
Little did I know... It was a running 87 Turbo II. What ran through my mind was something obscene. Late night canyon runs, cruising in a 2 seater rotary powered RX7, feeling like I finally had that ample opportunity to buy a car that I have always wanted for dirt cheap. It was perfect. So I turned around, and drove straight to his house.
His name was Mark. He's a 60 year old enthusiast that just has too many personal issues he has to deal with to drive the car. We talked for hours, and a little while later, with $500 in cash, I made a partial payment of $300 to snag the car and take it home.
The car definitely has it's issues, but I couldn't care less. I'll fix it all anyways. That's the price you pay for happiness though.
TL;DR - Bought an 87 RX7 TII for $500 off of an older gentleman.

Thanks mate! I got really lucky.
Yeah I was recommended to come join the forum here. Reddit is always my go-to in the beginning though haha.
And I will eventually post a build thread. I'm still waiting on the title, but after that it's fixing all of the electrical/mechanical issues. The car has a huge vacuum leak, and doesn't boost right now.
