I just got two RX-7's!

I just bought a pair of RX-7's and it will be a new learning experience for me; the idea of the rotary engine is marvelous to me. It was very interesting to see sparkplugs on the side of the engine and I like things that are not conventional. On another note, I would like to play with a LeRhone engine but the Mazda will be a great one; I look forward to lots of fun!!! One is a 5-speed and one is an automatic; I will rebuild that so that there will not be problems cropping up. Anyway, all the very best to all and I will be reading lots and lots of posts as I have lots to learn!

Ok, one, what is your name? Two, what are the years of the RX-7's you bought. Three, what is the story behind you buying those cars and four, where the McHeck is Rutherfordton??

Welcome aboard!

One is an '83 and one is an '84. I saw these near a junkyard that I was getting parts for a Ford truck that I traded 2 Victrolas for and I am thinking of running a contest for anyone that can find something that is NOT wrong with this truck :-) Anyway, my name is John and Rutherfordton is in western North Carolina. BTW, I found that teeney tiny Wankels are used to tension seatbelts in Volkswagens if they are in a crash...wonder if a fellow could use these in a miniture model car???

Yep, it is. Rutherfordton is South and East of Asheville and I am about 20 minutes from Chimney Rock. I started the one with a 5-speed as it was all there; the automatic lacks a driveshaft :-( and much of the features still work! The air works after only one can of freon, the radio, electric windowd and mirrors and one headlight goes up and down. The other has a stripped gear inside it and I will need to see about finding or making parts for that. Anyway, I hope to be rolling around in this before a very long time :-) Time is not a long feature with me as I have many miles to travel from work and home and Lenoir, where I live part time...

Mine are actually one and 3/4ths :-) I found the cause of the enormous racket - a blown exhaust gasket. I posted in another thread about the antifreeze injection for cold starting and that is definitely an amazing wonder to me; I have no clue as to what the antifreeze would do! Anyway, I'm thinking of going to 2 cycle oil injection as per advice that I have read on this forum; sounds great to me!

Luck is doing even better! I went to O'Reilly's to try to find some exhaust gaskets but had no luck. I looked in the glove box and behold!!! There lay three new ones!!! Also the missing coil to the other car was in the floor :-) :-) :-) :-)
