I got my my 87 FC turbo ii. would love to learn how to drift.

I bought this a month ago and the only mods i have right now is an
aftermarket radiator by koyo. I have Hawk racing pads and new rotors but they aren't
on my car yet.

I also took off one piece that connected to the airbox that used to fit on top of the old radiator. I feel a little better throttle response. But I noticed my boost is a little higher than usual.

I also did an oil change after I got it and used a K&N oil filter.

My goal is to mod this car for drifting.
I tried to practice a bit in an empty parking lot and here's what I noticed.
I get really nice pulls from my mid rpm range.
I tried launching the car from 4000 rpm and letting the clutch go.
What happens is my tires will squeak a bit and grip on right away. But my rpm drops like 1k when the clutch catches on.
Also, my e-brake doesn't lock up my rear wheels. I knew that the e-brake technique is what the beginners are suppose to try. But when I step on my clutch and lift up my e-brake, the rear wheels don't lock up.
I'm going to try the clutch kick next time instead.
Let me know what you guys think.
I'm open to all of your advice and recommendations.

Welcome to the forum. Now put this intake piece back on. Removing the snorkel piece just creates a hot air intake. Your peak boost will not be affected with or without it, but IATs and horse power will.

The main restrictive portion of the stock TII intake is the turbo inlet duct, which connects the air box to the turbo. Removal of this whole assembly will allow the turbo to breath better, but it should also be done with shielding or a custom box to keep it from pulling hot engine bay air.

ok i'll do just that. How is yours set up? could i see a picture of your intake?
It's the first mod that i want to do.
