I am new and I want a rotary in my BMW
I have been a car and truck enthusiast all my life. I don't have an RX, but as I said on the title of this topic, I want to put a rotary in my bmw. I of course would love to one day have an RX, I am in love with RX7's, and I probably always will be.
as for my vehciles, I currently have my first vehicle as my daily driver: 2000 Suzuki Grand Vitara, it has 2" of lift, custom exhaust, and some other things, great reliable and fairly fuel efficient vehicle (21ish mpg) and I've never had a problem with it.
About a year and a half ago-ish I purchased an 86 toyota pickup and did a solid axle conversion, dual cases, new rear suspension, and lots of other stuff to it, it's my wheeling rig.
I could not help but get into the car world, I got an 82 bmw 320I for free, someone had hit a deer with it and let it rot, I had big plans for it, then came across my 83 super cheap, parted it out, and got rid of it.
and then of course, my current candidate for a rotary, 83 bmw 320I. I was going to run the stock engine, but discovered it was seized, then I was going to rebuild one that was sitting in the trunk of the 82, then realized it was going to be real spendy, and now I think I'm going to buy a kind of running 12A with a trans and other stuff real cheap off my friend and run it for a while, a possibly rebuild it later on. Of course, the car looked horrible at stock height, so I couldn't help but lower it, even though it doesn't run yet.
I try and be as open minded as I can be, I'm really looking forward to learning the ways of the rotary with some help from this site.

not to worry, I will. figuring out the gauges will probably be the main trick, the 12A that I'm going to by is wired as simple as possible. I'm going to make everything as accessible as possible since there is a good chance that I'll end up street porting and rebuilding the engine.
I have allot of rotary education to gain, and this site has already helped me out a bit.

I don't actually know yet, but my friend I'm buying the 12A from says he looked it up and it's apparently 100 pounds lighter than a 1st gen RX stock, the 12A and trans are much lighter than the monstrosity that was in the car, so it should be mega light. when I get it running I'll let you all know what it weighs. I have the engine sitting in the car now, hopefully I'll at least get it mounted tomorrow, perhaps I'll start a build thread tomorrow if I get any notable progress. I'll post a link to it on this thread as soon as that happens.

because I got the 12A really cheap, I don't have allot of money to put into this car, otherwise I may have searched for a 13B or maybe even something non-rotary.
I don't think the car is ugly, and since it's mine, my opinion is the only one that matters.
I almost have the 12A mounted, haven't had much time to work on the car, pics comming as soon as I have it all mounted up.

I wonder what tinting the windows would do to the overall look. I think if you don't go crazy dark (maybe 30% or so?) it might look good.

I should have a build thread and pics tomorrow evening at the latest, the engine mounts are tacked in. I have to make a tranny mount and weld everything solid next.
I'll have some more details once I have a build thread, and like I said before, I'm going to be posting a link to it in this thread.
As for the window tinting idea, I'm not opposed to that idea, but I'm not sure if I would like to do that or not. I've lately really been digging the tint-less look on most things. I like how tint keeps the inside of a vehicle cooler in the summer and how it can help hide valuables, but I'd rather spend the money on other things at this point, I tinted the windows in my toyota myself, and I would not be happy with such low quality tint in my cruiser/drift/show car.
