Hi Inherited my Fathers Mazda Collection and Learning about Rotaries

Hi I am learning about Rotaries in general, how to get engines put together, as well as learning to idenify the miscellaneous parts and pieces, how they go together.

I inherited engine and parts to Rx3, Rx7, Rx4. We plan to get Rx4 running one day. I hope to learn alot, because I am starting from scratch. Looking forward to gaining knowledge.

Thanks for letting me participate in the group

Welcome to the forum!!! If you inherited the cars due to your father's passing, my deepest condolences for your loss.

It sounds like your father has been into rotaries for a long time and likely has an amazing collection of cars and parts! Would love to see pictures of the cars!!

Yes let me get some pics together ❤, very excited to see others interested in my dad's "babys". Yes he is in heaven now but I know he is getting a kick of this. I can hear him laughing now. Thanks for everyone's warm welcome.

Below is a video on his Rx3 , it was his favorite. The Rx7 was his second favorite. The Rx4 is the project he left in progress. Rx3pt1

Any Engine thread recommendations?

Hello friends,
so since I am totally Green, where do I begin to identify and diagnosing an engine? Any threads? I am slowly trying to categorize and go through parts. There are a total of 4 engines to check and potentially repair. Yes I am ready to get hands dirty, but don't want to mess these rare engines up. For clarification, I have only inherited the Rx4 but have miscellaneous items that are RX7 and RX3 that I will likely post to share here at this club. I appreciate all the knowledge shared so far from the experts. Thank you all for making me feel welcome.

Below are older pictures my dad took and i uploaded current pictures some of the engines and rx4 in the garage (my new project). I am committed that one day it RX4 will Run!

My dads car, unfortunately I do not have this one. 1985 RX7 added some nice upgrades including the top and trim

Rx3, his favorite. I also do not have this one.

My sis learned to drive racing clutch on this rx3

Rx4 is the one i inherted. Hasnt ever driven in the last decade or so. Old pic

RX4 relaxing in the Garage front view currnt state

Mystery engine #1, just kidding, i Know its a rotary but dont know if it works or what to do to get it working

Mystery engine 2, looks like dad fixed it up, he woukd paint the housing when he completed, but also dont know if it is working.

Rx4 interior current

Rx4 side view current

Old pics below, somehow uploaded out of order

My dad loved his posed pictures!

You've definitely inherited an amazing car and an amazing collection of parts!! The RX-4 will be incredible once you're done with it.

As for posting technical questions, you can post in the 1st gen tech section or the other rotary section. I see a couple of 12A engines there and we can help with those in the 1st Gen section. There are a few dedicated guys in the other rotary section as well. They can help you with the RX-4 itself. We're a pretty close nit community and we will do everything we can to help you honor your father and get your car back on the road!
