Hi, help on a swap please?
Hello everyone in rotary world,
I'm new to the rotary engine. Now I'm not new to automotive work. I have done engine builds on both NA engines and turbo engines, both domestic and import. I'm looking for information and opinions on rotary motors for a possible swap into my car.
The car is a 1993 Mustang Hatchback. I'm aiming to make a super-light turbo car for SCCA, Drift, and the occasional night out on the town. This isn't going to be a drag car, this car is going to be about corners. twists and turns. My goal is about 400-500 hp, but I'm open to suggestions.
The car currently has a 5.0L engine in it. Now before you flame me for trying to fit a rotary into a ford I want to say that I'm not only looking for different, I'm looking for ultra-light weight.
The hatchback came in weighting at 2750 lbs or so with that cast iron 5 liter. The engine it self fully loaded with all accessories is around 650-700 depending on year and setup. I'm looking to get the weight down to under 2000 lbs.
I've got a lift, a good welder, a ton of tools, and more than enough time to work on it, so here is where everyone here comes in. I'm looking for peoples opinions and personal build-ups. I'm looking for best bang for my buck.
I'm going to pick up two engines. One for in the car, one to keep as a spare for when I go to events. If I do the swap I'll post all my progress and pictures here.

Makes it easier to keep track of everything. Also, the multiple responses from myself to myself is not because of my wanting to get the 10 posts out of the way. It's from my fractured psyche. Where in each personality needs to place something on this forum. Luckily, they've all decided to be on the same page.
