Hi All, new here, advice appreciated!

Hi All,
As you can see from my details my current car isnt a mazda but indeed a toyota celica gt four, i am however in the process of getting rid of the rally car for something more race bread! so after looking have decided i would like a third gen rx7 preferably rs model. after hours of trawling the web i havnt found what i would call a reliable buyers guide and after making a hell of a boob buying the gt four and spending thousands fixing it again i dont intend to make the same mistake. so i would really appreciate picking from the fountain of knolwedge on this site so as not to make this glaring error again.

therefore could anybody please give me some idea of what to look for specifically when buying/test driving these cars, what is normal what is a sign something is onits way out, things to check specifically and where they are on the car. any information wil be a massive help agreatly appreciated.

cheers for looking and thanks for replying.

Compression test the engine, spin the e shaft by hand to make sure the rotors turn freely, look for rust, ask if the car was over heated because overheating a rotary engine is like death - the coolant seals blow when its overheated., if you are driving it and it seems sluggish the engine may have lost compression = blown.

When testing the car LISTEN out for noises!! Rust also make sure if the car is modified the previous owner has recipts of it. Also make sure the parts are legal.

the e shaft is connected to the pulley in the center of the engine sort of below and to the right of the waterpump pulley, it spins the rotors inside the engine. illegal parts are headers and other parts that some countries or states ban for use on cars for emission reasons or whatever.

Welcome.

+1 on cold starting when you go to test it.

Welcome to the forum. A compression test would be ideal, and DEFINITELY start it from a cold start.
