Talking Hey from Holland

Been around this great forum for several years but never introduced myself propparly i believe....well the name is Marc, 41 and living in the southern part of the Netherlands. RX-7 enthousiast for 7 years now.

My first RX-7 was a FC na from 1988. Always liked the looks of the car but knew nothing about rotary. Luckely the FC was in great shape allthough never rebuild and i had never really big issues with it besides normal maintenance. Sold it 2 months ago, wanted something else.....

This was it:

Over the years i owned it i changed some things like the rims, interior and just had a big smile on my face everytime i drove it. Mainly on meetings with the Dutch RX-7 club. But the last 2 years now and then it popped in my mind that it was time for something different. I absolutely wanted an RX-7 again because great club and great car

I don't have the funds for an FD and this is my ultimate dreamcar but then i need to win a lotery i think. I could choose for a TII FC but then i would have the same model so it had be a FB. Searched the internet but the amount of SA/FB's for sale in Holland (small country) ánd one i liked was slim. But i found one to my liking. Been with the previous owner for 11 years, mechanicly sound, beautifull interior, few minor dents, almost no rust and just needs some tlc and paint on the outside. Stood still for 4 years and a friend of mine picked her up with a trailer. He is a specialist in the rotary field so he gave her thorough check up, had to free the brakes and brought her to the yearly inspection so she could get back on the road save and legal. The FB is build in '85 but registerd in jan. 1986. It has done 133.000 km or about 80.000 miles and no rebuild but starts great so a rebuild is not an issue for the next coming years i think. Drive about 1500 miles every year with the RX-7.

When i picked her up and drove her home it where my first kilometers in a first gen. It was comletely different then i was used to with the FC. But i like it Only thing i don't like is the steering. If i compare it to the FC wich was realy direct.......damn. Maybe i have to get used to it. Read on this forum that it can be transformed with the steeringbox from a FC but i'm not that technical.

The following weekend i spend cleaning the FB. Needed to get rid of 4 years of dust and while polishing it i really can see what needs to be done. Need atleast to repaint the 2 fenders and the driverside door but probably i will repaint it complete but that's for next year.....

Some pics:

Reading a lot in this first gen. section to pick up ideas

Cheers,

Marc
