Hey!
This is my second 1st Gen RX7. The 1st was an '83 GS with a rebuilt motor and double pumper carb, upgraded coils, distributor with a 5 speed trans. Black with gold interior. Fast and Sexy. Had back issues and no time to keep it up back then so it was sold to a good home after 5 years of driving heaven..
This time it is an 1985 RX7 GS with automatic trans. Stock. This car was bought by a lady in August of 1984. At some point she stored it in a garage. When the second owner found it 20 years had passed. Basic maintenance was done to get it running and she drove it through the winter of 2008.
She offered to sell it to me after finding I have a love for these cars in April of 2009. It Had 82,855 km on it. The price was right so I bit. Found an old friend who does restorations. In 3 days the underside was sandblasted, undercoated, any metal with a hole in it cut out and new metal braised in, prepped, primed and painted(the new paint being around the bottom, rockers and fender skirts and blended into the origional paint). He will do the wheels this winter after I store it to retain the stock look
if I can just find a dust cap for the wheel hub (missing one). Otherwise may consider 8 spoke chrome mags I have seen offered online.
I am amazed as always at the way this car performs. Like a motorcycle on 4 wheels!
Not so amazing off the line but as soon as the RPM's get up there.....put's ya back in that chair through every shift and still has lots to give 'er when it reachs 140 Km per hour in the next few seconds.
Didn't get to 1000 km and I was dragging an exhaust bracket under the car. LOL. Still in ok shape, just need to straighten it,repaint it and bolt it on.
Been a slice. The car looks just like the avatar pic.
