Hello from TN

Hey just bought my first FD pending compression test. 98 white. excited to get it. I have had an fc before but only ran for about 3 miles lol. but i did take apart the engine, but scrapped it due to me being 16 and having no money and not knowing how much they would be worth 20 years later. Any way anyone local to mid TN?

Post some pics of your RHD adventures here.

Note: As your car is a "98 it is likely a Version 4. Be mindful the Mazda changed the position (order) of the coils for Version 4 and later.

A USDM mechanic only familiar with the prior coil arrangement might inadvertently hook up the spark plug leads or coil harness in the wrong order.

This can have catastrophic results on your motor..

Note: The password is included in the file title. This is a 400MB file. Be prepared. You specifically want to look for the FSM update booklet for late 1995.

Even in Japan, many mechanics made the same mistake, to the extent it become a major discussion point in Japan tuner magazines.

Recently I caught the tech at our local tuner shop hooking my harness up wrong. I made the shop owner well aware of the risk. But ironically, when the owner recently sent his own FD to the Dyno shop, they hooked up his leads wrong and blew the apex seals on his rear rotor.
