Just picked up a 1985 RX7 GSL-SE from my neighbors mother. It has been sitting in a her garage and under a cover for the past 10 years and was only the second owner when she purchased it from a collegue in 1987. So far, upon initial inspection, things seem to be in really good shape (even the stock stereo and EQ seem to work with only the sound of dirty contacts). Replaced the battery, plugs, plug wires first. Hand turned the rotors to ensure that they weren't carbon locked (turned with ease, but added a small amount of MMO to lubricate the apex seals just is case). Changed the oil and filter. Drained the old gas (that was nasty). Replacing the fuel filter and fuel pump for good measure this weekend. After that, I am hoping to start it up and hear it come back to life. Once that is complete, it will be time for coolant flush and fill, brake inspection and fluid replacement and clutch fluid replacement. The clutch is going to the floorboard right now, so I may be replacing the master and slave cylinders too.

I bought this car because when my wife and I married 22 years ago, this is very close to the RX we had then. I had an '81 GSL and we absolutely loved that car (many good memories in it ).

I have been reading many of the posts here on the forum for the past few weeks keading up to getting this car and they have really been educational on bringing me back up to speed on the rotary's. So, thank you to all for your contributions.
