CA New kid on the block in California

Hey all, the name is Dave, hailing from Southern California (born and raised!). I have been lurking around the sight for the past two years and a while back created an account but never fully set it up. Owning an RX-7 is actually not something I have had the pleasure of doing yet, but there are plans to change that before this summer So I will definitely be using the forums to pick the brains of all who have gone before me!

Welcome.

Best bet is to read the FAQ threads for the models you are looking at. They have buyer's guides and details on other problem spots.

I am actually looking at getting an FC-SE. An acquaintance of mine is getting rid of the car so he can get a truck to use for work. Its just a rolling chassis as my other friend is getting his fresh street ported engine. About 8 of my friends are heavily into RX-7s and I have been working on them for the past 2 years or so. The only reason I decided to tackle to project is because I know there is a load of support for me on RX7club and between my friends there is about 15 grand in spare parts that float around. We all help each other out in what ever way possible so this should be exciting!

The SE already has the Tll running gear swapped over except for the diff and the suspension has been mildly uprated. I am actually pretty excited to be getting the car because I know the guy so it will be nice to keep it in the family so to speak. I am getting it for 800 I just need to source an engine and a new drive shaft. There are plenty of good housings and irons for me to use in the group but I will have to find a set of rotors.

Speaking of which does anyone know if the Renisis rotors will fit in any of the series 3-5 engines

Has anyone had much luck finding usable rotors in junk yard engines?

Negron are you from Southern California? It is heartening to see how many people are active in the online community!

Haha Cypher just move to socal :-P As soon as I get the car I will most definitely be posting up pictures of the engine pull. In the time before summer the engine bay is going to be completely cleaned up and sprayed black (also to be documented) before I find a power plant to go in.

Are any of you new guys already in RX7's or looking to get into one?
