PR Hello from New England

Hey! How's it going 7clubbers!?
My Name is Nando.
I just recently acquired a 1984 GSL with around 120,000 its bone stock. See for yourself. I passed up on a pair of SA's a few months ago due to rust and the other was missing everything interior related.
Check out the pics and thanks for the vast amount of wealth.
I plan on keeping it relatively stock. I'm thinking a 4bbl carb, auto to manual tranny swap a few sporty upgrades for the exterior e.g. whale tail, glass roof, front air dam for starters.

Plans are simple to modest:

5spd swap
rear disc brakes
bigger carb 4bbl
rats nest removal
sun roof w/ bag
front air dam
spoiler
carbon fiber tail lamp facisa
mild port on the motor

just for starters.
Im sure most of this has been done so Im looking forward to bothering no one unless i have exhausted all searching!

Thanks hope to show the progress on here!
-Nando

Welcome, that's a beauty! Keep the Nikki, it'll do all you need it to do, spend money elsewhere. Just sayin'.

I have since dug what looks like a nikki carb streamline DIY write up with highlighted yellow and pink parts witg some notes.
If I pair the removal of undesirable oem carb add-ons with the removal of the rats nest, what should I expect from the car? Decrease in reliablity?
I also found a decent pdf of the rats nest removal will have more on hand when performing.
And I missing some other write ups? I'm just now enjoying the fine option of searching within titles only

I will continue digging!

one of three or four photos detailing a nikki carb strip down for what really? Reliability emissions delete? make the carb a more responsive and competitive?

There's no real upside to stripping carb and associated emissions without first adding a free flow exhaust, ie, header.
The big upside to removing all that stuff is a much cleaner looking engine bay. You may have emissions inspection to deal with. If so, you'll want to keep it in tip top shape.
The Nikki can be easily modded to flow more air/fuel if/when you get to that point.
