Hello from H-Town
Hello from Houston....
My name is Lyn and I purchased my first RX-7 when I graduated from UT in 1984. The salesman tried to talk me into waiting for the "New" body style, but I wanted the original and purchased a 1985 Mazda RX-7......could only afford the S model, but I fell in love when it finally arrived three months later. I kept my "silver bullet" for 16 years. I was long married with a child by this time and we were moving with the military and could not take three cars with us. We sold it to a kid who promised to love and care for Bullet.....I cried for a week. My husband promised that someday he would buy me another one and fix it up special just for me.
In February of 2009, while looking for a car for our 16 year old son, we came across my dream car.....1985 GSL-SE in tender blue. WOW is all I can say. I feel like I am 21 again every time I get behind the wheel.
In all of these years, I have never seen or driven a car that I love better. Whenever I am having a bad day or feeling blue....I just get in my RX, take out the sunroof and go for a drive.
I joined this site to find other Lovers in the Houston area that might want to get together for a drive. Also, we will need information on how to obtain parts and repairs for my "new baby".
I am not a mechanic and my only knowledge is that I have owned and loved RX-7's for the better part of my adult life. I look forward to learning from you all.
Thanks

Hi Lyn, What a great story! I can totally relate.
I drove my first convertible at age 17, my uncle's '88rx7. Knew from that moment that I was a vert lover through and through.
I now (21 years later) have almost the exact car. Told my dad I felt like I was 17 again when I washed mine for the first time (the wheels are as much a pain to wash as I remembered, but worth every minute)
I'm glad you shared your story too.
