Smile Hello all ! RX7 R1 restoration coming your way

Hello RX7 club community. John here. Purchased my dream car a few weeks back and have been cruising the forums here for the past 3 weeks gathering info and getting my overall knowledge of these cars up a bit. Picked up a 1993 RX7 R1 in vintage red. Car is completely unmodified. Im planning to do a full restoration with some oem + styling. Not a newbie to restoration or cars but a total newbie to the mazda rotary world (somewhat). Growing up in northern NJ (hackensack) i was about 11 years old when Marcos Acosta had his shop on river street in Hackensack. MVA motorsports I was there almost everyday on my bicycle watching him and the crew wrench on these fds for quiet some time. This was around the time he had the drag pickup truck 2 rotor making 1050whp back then 2001. Small world and some years later he ends up being the fabricator at my buddies shop I worked for building drag hondas (certified racing). I was there from 2008-2013 and now have moved onto other businesses. Being at Marcos shop was my introduction to rotary and racing. Being surrounded by 10-15 rx7s outside the shop at 11 you can imagine the heaven i was in. My backround is racing. A short bicycle or goped ride away was another prominent shop in the import racing world the 2jz kings Bullish racing. I watched them build the twin solaras when they were yellow and white and watched them obtain their sponsorship from streetglow. I used to frequent Aras shop as well and again just sit and watch in awe of what i was witnessing come to life. A brief history of me and my passion for racing and these cars. Finding this car unmolested is a full circle moment for me and i promise to bring her back to life the best way I know how.

I have attached 4 photos of the car ... one once all the sheetrock was off the car
the second after a thorough wash
the third was car with frozen sheetrock and frozen blankets
fourth quick wash with some good ol simple green

stay tuned as i will be creating a very well documented build thread on this car !
