Hello all from a rookie in Texas.

I'm a new guy here and to the RX-7 world. Although I have been on the site for sometime, I had not joined until now. I thought it would be best to read as much as possible before posting.

The car.... I have a 1986 RX-7 GXL non turbo. It's garage kept and I've looked at it daily with great hopes of getting it back to all original and on the road. So, I have decided to finally get to it. It has only been in the garage for just over 11years. Yes you read that correctly eleven (11) years'

I am adding pictures in my profile so you can see where I'm starting. I do have a few questions but want to get all my stuff together step by step in order not to leave out any info. I figure you guys need to know what the hell the cars is doing and everything I have done before you can tell me what the hell to do..

It should be a killer experience and I know it will be a blast learning from you guys!

Now back to uploading pic's

KB, thanks for taking the time to register and welcome aboard to RX-7 Club.

The biggest fear I see with your car will be that even though it's been garage kept, you still live in Texas. The Summers here are brutal and dry-rot of internal gaskets is a big problem with rotary engines that haven't run for a couple of years. It got so hot in my garage this year that one of the plastic holding barrels for my Dremel cutoff wheels actually warped into a clover shape around the boards inside! I have never seen that before. Crazy.

The good thing about Texas is that we have a strong rotary presence here, especially in the Metroplex, so things can work out. The salvage yards are getting thinner with cars but stuff is still out there, too.

That said, you're not going to know your situation until you crank that beast up. I'll be crossing my fingers and hoping the best for you!
