Hey peeps. Never introduced myself before. My name is Benjamin and I recently picked up an '86 GXL. I use to have an '88 Gxl, but I got rid of it to pay off the tool debt that I had. I'm now a baker and have no reason for a tool debt . Anywho I'm back and hopefully for a bit longer than the last time. Awesome thing about the '86 is when I went to pick it up, and took the test drive. It felt so much slower than the '88, and there were no brakes. Mind you the guy didn't tell me this when I went to push the pedal . Got to pop the hood and figured it was the TPS because of the gap. It wasn't making contact like it was running full throttle all the time. Also the brake reservoir was empty. Got fluid in it for the time being, and the brakes came back on the drive home. Now the fun begins. I've got the TPS, idle, and timing all adjusted with the air leaks fixed. It still ran like poop till 4500RPM's. So the compression tester came out. Test the first rotor housing and got 100PSI, **** yea, then the rear rotor housing. Only 30PSI . So, I decided to do an S5 TII swap and have the motor, wire harness, MAF, ECU, and other tid bits on the way. Will have this going by the end of the first week of July unless an act of God interrupts me. Oh yea, found out the right rear brake caliper was causing the master cylinder to run out of fluid because someone didn't install the brake pads right. the little peg wasn't in the caliper notch. But my questions for you Vets. When I know what I don't need from the original motor. It is best to sell as a whole or in pieces.
