Guess I should introduce myself....

I'm Lee. I live in Visalia, CA. Gonna go tomorrow to look at an '88 GTU. The owner says it may need new apex seals.

I'm realyl just trying to figure out what a decent rebuild will cost in parts. I'm very mechanically inclined, built several motors and work for a manufacturing business with a full machine shop. So what's parts gonna cost me, should I ****** up the car?

He says it runs, if I have a good battery (I do).

So yeah...

I currently drive a 2008 Suzuki Reno that I don't care too much for, anymore, and I came across the deal on the RX, so here I am!

Also have a 2001 Buell Blast (rat-rodded).

So...bought it.

It runs, and drives, I drove it. However, under load or at higher (over 3500) rpm's there's a metal-on-metal kinda knocking sound from the right (passenger side) of the engine bay and there's a chug. Is this knock? If not, suggestions?

Knock can happen for countless reasons. Boosting isn't required to have knock.

I may be new to rotaries, but not to engines; no offense.

I've read about have the leading/trailing wires switched. Possibility? The best I can describe the sound is like I saw in a thread (finally)...metal popcorn. One of the trailing coils was replaced by the previous owner. Does switching the wires cause this noise?

I gain posession of the car come Friday, otherwise I'd run outside and check for myself.

Picked it up today! He had the wires to the trailing plugs switched with each other. Swapped them to the right coils, runs like a top!

This is freaking amazing!
