MN got me an FC, having problems. HELP!!!!

Hey, I have an 89 FC Non-Turbo GXL...she was running great for a week until it started to having an intermittent problem...at first from time to time i would be cruising down the road and it would seem to almost lose its ability to run at rpms above like 2500. So if i pull it over and let it sit idling, it will idle for days that engine is strong. But if after the loss of power or ability to accelerate happens, and i try to rev it up even if i put it to the floor, She will only go up to around 3000rpm, while if i slowly push the pedal down i can get it to go to 7000.

Help me out here. Seems like its not getting enough fuel, but if it sits for a while then i start it and without trying to drive it i can free rev it up as much as i want 8000-9000rpm

i would strongly suggest buying a Haynes manual for the 86-91 RX-7, you could find it at pep boys or advance auto parts or something, its basically the bible for us FC guys, tells you how to do almost anything, with pictures out the *** and whatever, its like 20 bucks. check it out

I second that. I've rebuilt several cars using the Haynes as a guide.

Have you checked the fuel filter? or the ventilation for the tank...
