Future 3rd gen owner from SoCal
I picked up a bone stock 94 VR R2 last September from a guy in Illinois and passing CA smog was tough. The FD failed the first smog test so I had to change plugs, O2 sensor, air filter and use 87 octane to get it too squeak under the pass limits. I sure hope they don't lower the emission values any more.
So you best bet is to see if you can find a CA registered FD to purchase

Thanks for the info. I figure smog inspection will be tough. I see so many highly modded FD's for sale with CA plates, I wonder how these vehicles get through smog.

Nice collection you have. As mentioned above, one of the things I have found is that getting cars outside of California and Oregon maybe even Washington can sometimes make it tough for a car to pass emissions. Good luck in the search.
i see your in orange county. there is one r1 for sale here locally in elpaso tx. it looks clean, if you want ill post a link.. i am also looking for an FD... i have a deal right now with another rx7 but aint to sure, once my thread is approved you will see what im talking about.
