hey guys..
i might use this as the start of my build thread for my FD rx7.
Iv owned the car for just over a year now..
It is a 93 Mazda rx7 FD Australian delivered model. i think is is very similar to the US R2 and the Japanese Efini model.. kind of a mongrel. hahaha.

The car started its early life in 93 owned by a Doctor and for the time he owned the car i have the entire service history for.
the guy i bought it off was the second owner,(me being the third).
so its been through its paces as a 18+ year old car.
The previous owner tell me that he has owned the car for nearly 10 years.
He tells me and has genuine receipts to show for, it has a fully rebuilt engine and turbos by a place called Maztech (which is well known rotary shop)...
the engine has 3mm carbon seals n the usual rebuild package with only a mild street port. (as the receipts)

When i test drove the rx for the first time i had never test driven one before and also didn't do enough research on them.
i didn't know about the 10-8-10 boost pattern, i didn't know when and how the turbos were ment to work. i knew rotary engines and i have rotor love since i was a young boy but never studied the art of the sequential system.
So i kinda test drove this thing blinded... he had told me that it had a boost leak from some were sometimes but he or his mechanic hadn't looked at it yet.(he wasn't very tool friendly).
i had thought to myself it cant be that hard to find a boost leak... LOL

Didn't matter a week later i went and picked it up...

i drove the car for 2weeks over the summer n then had to hand my license in for another 6months. bumber!!!
The car went to a shop that i was recommended to go there for there amazing cleanliness, putting stuff together properly, and apparently he had mastered the sequential system down to the last bolt..

Ne way,
$1700AUD later all he had done was,
-fix the oil leak from oil pan
-replaced Purge Control solenoid (with 'good' working one)
-replaced leaking stock BOV.
-complete Rats nest re-vacuum line.
-replaced my engine mount with 2nd hand.
-replaced oil level sender.
All these items were replaced with working 2nd hand stuff...
But still the secondary turbo is not working properly...
sometimes it would work perfect and it was awesome to drive, sometimes it felt like an N/A 12A and would go like a bag or crap...
Was really annoyed and disappointed.
His next step is that he wanted to pull the turbos off and check the rear turbo to see if the wheels were still in tact and for any shaft play...
But they had only been rebuilt about 25,000kms ago. so i had had enough, paid my bill and took the car.

In the mean time i have been building my drift car. cut a long story short i was talking to my tuner (who tuned my drift car) about the Rx problems and he said he was happy to have a look at it and charge me close to nothing(till this day he still wont tell me how much my bill was,and i have the car back).

So the car went to my tune r(we shall call him by his first name:Craig)
He spent hours researching this forum through the links i had sent him and from his own moderate knowledge about the system he seamed to go over everything and found a few things that weren't checked.
he replaced the turbo control actuator(i think it was) he said it was leaking from the casing. he said from the diagrams i had sent him (from rx7club) some of the vac lines were routed wrongly.
After about 4-5months(in his spare time) of trailing and troubleshooting he could still not find the exact source of the problem.
he did say that the tank that sits next to the power steering pump(pressure/vac chamber) had a slight leak but after about putting 20psi into it. he had said that because its running only 15psi that should not matter, but its been in the back of my mind. also he changed a few one way valves with viton ones...

which brings me to now..
i take the car back and run a scan tool, and throws a code 11. which is air temp sensor under the UIM which was just unplugged... easy fix, but dosent fix the car.

I was getting to the point of wanting to strip it down myself and was about too then i had a massive smash in my daily driver, so the RX became my daily from then on...

In that time i snapped the PPF, got it re-welded and reinforced by a mate of mine and also put Super Pro bushers in the rear diff mount, and engine torque damper to lessen the engine n g-box twist.
On order is the Banzai racing diff brace, solid transmission brace and EGR block of plates..
Some guy reversed into the front of my car at work and punctured the front bar, got his rego and went to the police to file a hit and run report and they have found him and his paying up for brand new bar, paint and blend, but thats a whole other story in itself.. i know my panel beater very well... :p

i semi pulled the intake and air-box out just to have a look around, as at this time the car had just a 3inch cat back but the first turbo was making like 15psi, then i was getting a what i think was boost cut, id back off, get back on it, sometimes it was ok sometimes it boost cut, if i part throttled and controlled the boost with acceleration it was awesome, revved freely and nicely all the way to 7500-8000. one thing i also realized is that once i got passed 5000rpm i could flatten it to the floor and it wouldn't make more than 5-6psi...
Also are stock BOV's ment to go pshhhhh???
i had also split the stock lower inter cooler silicon/rubber hose...
so i decided to spend sometime on it pull it down fix the cooler hose and have a look around at why it was on soo much boost...
i noticed that one of the vac lines on one of the actuators was split, kaching!! fixed that.. also i think it was the charge relief (cant tell the difference from charge relief or BOV. lol) hose had gone like hard plastc and broke so i replaced that too..
put the car bak together, take it for a test run and voila. first turbo is making a solidish 10-9psi. i get the transition at 4000-4500rpm but only making bout 6psi then slowly bleeds off all the boost as revving to redline...

This is were i am at now...
iv been thinking of pulling the vacuum chamber out and replacing it or checking it under water with air compressor. is there an aftermarket replacement??? what is the best thing to do with this chamber?? any ideas that have people used and that work well???

Can any body help me please???

cheers guys
