College student with huge project.
Hello everyone Im Zack
So here is my story about my wonderful '91 Rx7. After having my old grandma car I wanted something that looked a whole lot better than the car I currently had that probably would fall apart at a moments notice. So after looking around Craigslist I found a girl selling her Rx7 she was asking 1500 for it and I had 2000 saved up. So after talking with her I went down and looked at the car brought a friend aswell to look at the car. Looked under the hood and It was forsure the project car I wanted. Paint was chipping, all stock engine except for the odd air intake job the girl did and the screw holding my throttle body, sunroof was sealed up and a bunch of other problems. I offered 1300 (I didn't want to go to low in fear of offending her) and the car was mine. took her home that night and was happy as a clam. The following day went to my mechanics shop and said have at it. So after a new starter, water pump, oil change and a few new heating hoses she was running great! Now I am waiting to take her into my automotive class were I can put in the new throttle body! I will basically be building this car at the speed of my paychecks just getting one thing at a time. My end result is unsure but I still do want to rebuild the engine completely but I will have to save up on that one. Pictures In a few.

Dude that's awesome! I don't want to sound like a jerk, but your situation sure makes me feel better about mine haha, thats cool that you'd take on a challenge like that though.
I just bought my 91 vert for 4k about a month ago, I got some pics up so check em out if you want.
Welcome to the club, hope to hear more about the project

oh yea I know the mechanical first Ill let people talk all the trash they want about how ugly it looks with the bad paint and what not but when I leave 'em behind cause my engine is in order it will slap those smiles off there faces. took her out last night after I got off work. still learning manual but I god the hang of it by the end of the drive. but my oil gauge on the dash is not working or its not reading anything so I really want to get that checked out ASAP. We haven't covered that in class yet so I cant bring it in and have me and the class check it out, But I also don't want to be driving around if it the gauge is actually accurate and I am getting no oil pumped through or something.

It seems (around here) that most FC's don't have the best paint or body, so yours would be part of the norm. I wouldn't be bothered with those issues too much (I would just make sure any exposed metal is hit with primer to avoid rust). Looks pretty fun as it sits if you ask me!

yup, I sanded the rust off and hit it will some primer. it looks like the girl I got it from used some bond-o to fill in some rust spots they cut out
