So, I have wanted an rx-7 I believe subconsciously for awhile now. My name is Ryan and I live in the arm pit of california. I am trying to locate a nice rx-7 there is an 86' on cl I am going to take a look at. All I can do is hope for the best. Although, I have never owned a rotary engine before I have basic mechanic skills and I want to increase this knowledge on a car that i see worth my time.

Welcome aboard, Ryan. I highly suggest you hit the regional board for where you live and see if a fellow rotorhead can be with you when you go to check out that FC. If you've got basic gearhead skills, then the 1stgen car is more appropriate. With all the add'l electronics, IRS and the EFI, the 2ndgen - what we call the FC - is a bit of a more complicated beast....and heavier...couldn't pass that up...lol

FCs are awesome cars. I am on my 6th FC right now. I still own 1 and 5, and 2, 3 and 4 are daily driven by their respective owners.
Welcome to the club! Whatever Rx7 you get you will love the heck out of it! I have driven all generations many times and I love the heck out of all of them!
