Bought a money pit
Hello everyone,
i just purchased a 1994 silver with red interior RX7 Touring off of a co-worker. The body is 8/10, interior is 10/10. The car has 70k miles... And a siezed engine... And it has sat for almost ten years. During those ten years however, the previous owner had kept the car garaged, covered, and clean, with hopes of one day fixing it. He instead sold it to me, for a very nice price, and bought himself a Tesla.
I have worked on cars in the past. I've owned several mustangs and a 240sx. However, I haven't actually worked on a car in several years, with my job and living situation not allowing for that type of hobby. I do have the money though now to have someone else fix the car for me, and I have a generous budget to make that happen.
My first order of business is to sort out some place that can do the heavy lifting of the engine replacement and tackle any gremlins with a car that has sat for a long time, then I plan to make it my own with some tasteful modifications.
Without further adieu, here are some photos.

Heh.... I kinda wanna see this through... I would also feel bad if I just straight up flipped it after my coworker gave me a good deal...
Maybe once it's running and I've had some fun with it... I'll let it go for something else... who knows? lol

Ricks Performance in Pleasanton does great work, if you hadn't checked him out. Cool color combo and options. The PEG/PEP didn't come with the bose nonsense in the trunk, which is great. You missed out on the glass sunroof, but you can always retrofit one after a little searching, if you find you like them. The leather interiors (seems like especially red) didn't hold up as well as suede and cloth. So, if your seats and interior are 10/10 you really got a good one. Engines are pretty easy to fix with some money, but replacing interior pieces is a long journey.

*Godfather style* I'll make you an offer you can't refuse. Haha. Nice find. I don't know what you paid for it but I'd give you something more than reasonable and pick it up within a week with cash in hand.... you know... if you dont want the hassle (ps who cares about your coworker, should have taken care of it when he had the chance....)

Decided to take the car to Sake Bomb Garage, which is local to me and has been a great experience so far. Heath is very knowledgeable and has been a stand up guy.
Here is the car getting loaded onto a flat bed in Monterey...
...and here is the car already with the engine out!

Some issues so far with the car...
-The engine is siezed, hence the good price...
-The engine harness was not worth saving
-The body wiring harness has been chewed up in several spots... this will most likely have to be fixed by hand...
-The transmission LOOKS good, however the shifter won't move out of neutral... repair/replacements probably necessary...
-The radiator is in rough shape... some damage on the bottom, as well as chunks of really old coolant inside...
-The exhaust, from the turbo back, is rusted through in several spots and will need to be completely replaced.
-I'm not taking a chance on the brakes, so I am replacing all brake components, front and rear, and a new master cylinder
