Wow, great find and progress, too. From BAT mode to running in 6 months. What did you do about the auto box? Did you find a manual for it. Japanese auto boxes of the day were not very impressive. I had a 71 Corolla with a two speed auto.

Keep the updates coming!

seized

hey everyone just trying to figure something out... i just bought a 1980 rx7 the other day. I love it! anyways, it wont start.. i took the starter out hooked it up to external power and it runs good. pretty sure something seized since the q gear wont budge. I removed the plugs and sprayed deep penetrating lube in the carb and engine. just wondering if ive missed anything to diagnose/treat this alien-built-auto

thanks

i just put 30 miles on it and its been an adventure. got it inspected, registered. Battery died at gas station, then a fuel pump fuse blew out. arrgh but after i figured it about i was rolling home again. Feels good to get this thing back on the road.

Lucky to be to you, that is an awesome find! That backyard reminds me of this junkyard that is a few towns over from me. It literally is in the woods and full of extremely old cars including camaros, mustangs, plymouths, oldsmobiles, and most importantly a 1st gen Rx-7. The place is closed down now and tried offering the owner cash and he refuses to sell any of the cars there. I wont give up though, I still have to explore the rest of the yard.

Pretty RX2!

We actually had one out at a local meet that was the same color!
(and about the same amount of rust lol!)
