Back On The Scene '99 FD

Greetings to everyone. Just a returning member to dive back into the rotary world again.

In 2011, I sold my FD for some other life events. As of Dec 3rd, I have returned. I am a proud owner of a RHD FD.

In the pics, grey FD was my '93 LHD FD that was heavily modded through the 9 years of ownership. From stock to ported rotary with a single turbo.

The blue FD is my '99 RHD FD. Currently, bone stock (exception of exhaust and wheels). Eventually, there will be a ported rotary and single turbo (with all supporting items). I haven't decided if I wanted to do the 3 rotor conversation as I have a 20b short block in my garage. I may start building the 20B slowly until it is time next to do a swap. But priority one is to get a title, do a complete fluid change, check compression and a few other things. Maybe some bolt ons like an intake, maybe a V-mount (not quite a bolt on but......)

Anyways, glad to be back.

Welcome back old timer!
2003 username checks out.

Blue is probably my favorite OEM color on these cars, so huge congrats on picking this one up. Excited to see what you do with it.

Great pick up. Love to see more of these S8 onshore.

First thing: Be aware that the mounting order of the coils was changed after late 1995 (Version 4 +).

Failure to be aware of this could result in the plugs being fired in the wrong order.

This can happen easily with just a simple spark plug change and using the USDM FSM as a guide.

Also it is easy to get the updated version 4+ coil harness flipped.

If the motor starts running horribly after anyone fiddles with the plugs or coils, this is likely the clause.

Investigate immediately.

That is good to know! I usually take pics prior to taking things apart. What should be simple sometimes can be a nightmare during reassembly.
