Talking AveryCursted RX7

Hi I hope I find you all well. I thank you all for having me in the club...Built this 84 RX7 and have had many issues but Granny,s said it could be done. This took me 16 years many hours. If I had done the front first I probably would have not completed it. I have at least 18k into this only because it cost about 3500 to make the front end out of metal, which later became a mold for fiberglass. Bought a Mig welder was determined to learn how to weld with it, didn't know it meant hours of grinding. (killed 4,4" angle grinders.) over the years

My problem is the 3.5 '' off set on front wheel adapter, not pleased to think, my rim has a positive offset as well, which would put an even larger stress on the axle .....am willing to replace wheels to get ride of these adapters, if I can fined a nice set of 4 bolt rims 14''.. (Car originally came with 13''.)

In short I need wheels, rims that fit the RX7 that it was and am wanting to make the rear ford 5 on 4.5 to run 4 bolt Mazda. Is this possible? If you have any ideas or leads please feel free..

Does it still have its Rotary engine? Looks like an Aston Martin from the front and a 1st gen Camaro in the rear, while the rear fenders and sail panel reminds me of a fastback Mustang. Quite a combination. Would like to see under hood and interior shots.

Welcome to the forum! I can't say that I've ever seen a conversion quite like that. Well done.

It's going to be very difficult to find a "new" 14" rim with the 4 x .113 bolt pattern as 14" rims in todays world are trailer wheels, modern manufactures usually don't have anything smaller that 15" and many now don't have any smaller than 16" for sale. You will have to look for used wheels most likely to find 14" however, Rota has some nice 4 x 411.3 wheels in 13" and 15" and some dual-drilled rims (Not my style though) at very reasonable prices. What size are you current wheels? Could you up-size to 15"?

Its never done

I had lot of fun building this RX7 but I would not do it again, you just can't find the parts. I got this thing in the early 90s. Someone had pinched off the line to water jacket (seized the engine) and had bent the DR door into the front fender and crushed them both. .. I put a Toyota 20R engine in it and repainted it. Drove it for 7 years. (great in town rat racer) Then I read the Granny thing and it started.. I own all the parts..

Thanks you should see what I did to the Mustang I found rotting in mud, in a cow pasture.
Here is a pic. did this one when I was 20. Landcruiser drive train 267 Monza engine 4 wheel drive. When I got the car it had no floor from the seats back and the hood had been folded front to back the cow trampled the crap out of it.... Had some fun with this one..
