Australian"Street Legal" FD RX7 Clubsprint Car.

Hi all. I'm Jon and have had this car in the build now for a fair while.

The car (1998 Series 7 Type R) was imported from Japan directly to Australia by me and has basically been rebuilt from the ground up by the team from a renowned local rotary builder Kim Ledger (Yes it's Heath Ledgers dad).

LF Performance Products Pty Ltd |

It's got a Bridgeported 13B with a nice sized single turbo and makes a comfortable 500+ at the wheels. The focus of the car was to build a vehicle that complied with the rules for World Time Attack Challenge's "Clubsprint Class" and therefore had to be able to be street driven and pass inspection to enable it to be road registered but still had to have everything required to be an out and out track car including a full roll cage and other chassis mods to suit my 6ft 3 frame (whole new floor ect ect)

I'll chuck some build pic's up tomorrow but for now here's the car as it sits in it's "Street Legal" configuration. To clarify for those who may not know in Western Australia a system exists where dedicated race cars can be deemed street legal provided they can prove they still safe to operate on a limited basis on the road, so while it's clearly not a daily drive car it can still get registered.

Full credit to Ashley Westwood for the sexy pics, Gavin @ GT Graphics for the RW livery and assorted other promo gubbins, Michael Gileno for laying down a beautiful crisp paint job and most importantly the team at LF Performance and the others who've helped along the way for building what's been and continues to be an evolving interpretation of what my ideal Clubsprint FD3S should be.

Next time it goes on excursion for happy snaps it won't be at road ride height or missing it's underbody aero bits. It's too much hard work to move around when it's slammed with bit's of carbon and kevlar hanging off it everywhere.

These photos were taken at a pre event media shoot day for an airstrip drag meet I run. (We moved the event to a flash new 1800m long runway so had to shoot new stock photos) A full highlight gallery from the shoot will be released fully in due course via Racewars social media accounts. It's well worth a look.
