96 Mazda Rx7
Hi there everyone,
New to the group but have been in the rotary club for couple of years now, I have a 07 Rx8 that I daily and my girl the 96 FD. I've owned the 8 for about 6yrs now and it's never missed a beat have about 140000kms on original engine with no problem ever(don't ask me how it's still alive even I'm surprised), only mod that's been done was a HKS catback exhaust to it. As for the 7 I've had her for a year now but did own another 7 before that aswell so 2yrs I guess. Now don't get me wrong the cars far from being perfect, but it'll get there eventually.
Some infor for the FD,
- Street ported
- Stock rebuilt 99spec twins
- Stock injectors
- Upgraded fuel pump
- Tein coilovers
- Re Amemiya under brace and front bar
- Banzai racing oil pan brace
- Exedy Clutch
- Mazdaspeed LSD
- Apexi intake
- Arc intercooler
- Arc titanium exhaust
- Vertex bodykit
- Apexi power FC ecu
- Craft square carbon mirrors
- Short shift kit
- Work Emotions XD9 F(18x9+38) R(18x10+38)
- Michelin Pilot Sport 4 F(235) R(265).
P.s since I'm based in New Zealand we use metric system.
Always been on this thread and learnt some great things about the car and mods to do aswell.
I guess I'll see you guys in one of the threads.

very clean welcome to the club, i had an 2005 RX8 i drove for 10 years and put on 175,000 km before selling it. it was one of my favorite cars. if they are well looked after they are very reliable.

Welcome to the forum!
I had to do a double take on your engine bay photo - I thought you might have my old FD; there are many similar parts, such as the intake hard pipes, the chrome Apexi intakes I special ordered to NZ, the polished alternator, TB and UIM......,, butmost notably the custom shield around the intakes - where did you get that from? It is way too coincidental yours is identical to the one I had custom made!
I sold my FD to a guy in Hastings, but he resold it and last I heard it as in Hamilton/Auckland area. Curious if these parts were removed and sold to you?
if it is indeed the one I built, do you also have the intake duct I built that goes in the bumper opening to force air through the ARC SMIC?

Have a look at my IG it has the pic of my old 7.
Wouldn't be surprised if it was your actual design(the one on the right)

Parts are bit hard to find but that depends on what you're looking for in my opinion, but never had to buy something overseas. I'm a very picky person and as a result I like to see the product I'm buying before purchasing it especially when it comes to spoiling the 7 lol.

Well I believe that's the exact set up I had on my other Rx7, the number plate was 99RX7.. the engine came from that as well as all the other things, due to some idiot trying to overtake a truck in a blind corner I had no choice but to put it in the ditch, worst day of my life tbh. It got written off, but ended up saving the engine and parts from it and swapped it into this current car..

I was the first owner of the car with the plate “99 RX7”. I had the engine rebuilt at 126,000km. I am currently at work but can dig up some more old photos in a few weeks If you want?
If you have any questions about the car let me know!
this is how it looked when I sold it, still running RE-A wheels and MazdaSpeed hood, wing and rear bumper!

I believe it's 13psi all the way through (+-0.5psi)..
I guys who tuned it said I it can hit around 360ish if I upgrade my injectors (which is stock) but I wanna keep it some what stock and normal use aswell.
For me it's a decent power for street and track runs.. don't want it to be a drag king just a good track car.
