Does anyone have any advice on the best method to secure the lexan I heard self tap screws can make it crack when the lexan expands to heat

look at a mirror in your bathroom for ideas. screws through the body and arms over the lexan.

you will obviously need more than just 4 tangs to hold it in place though.

So basically make retaining clips to hold it right?

that is what i would do, any holes in the lexan will cause a possible fracture point and in this heat it won't last long before the cracks begin to develop.

Thanks for the info I'll give this a try, gonna have to make some straps out of some scrap metal I've got, I was just thinking about using a layer of high temp silicone on the lexan side of the strap to prevent it from scratching

or trim some felt and glue it to the bottom of the tabs.

it just depends how clean you want it to look.

I didn't even think about using felt, but wouldn't it fade in this sun

felt only being used to prevent scuffing and on the underside of the tabs it would only be visible from the inside of the car and shouldn't fade since it isn't directly in the sun. it would probably deteriorate if the car is parked outside for storage though, but the felt would be the least of my worries compared to the lexan.

Good point, cheaper to replace the felt than the lexan
