The LS1 FDs are fast, rode in one, however it feels a little wrong. Like putting a SB 350 Chevy into a Shelby Mustang. I have 1st hand knowledge of losing a Apex seal on my N/A motor. It still ran, even at idle, however it had no power and sound like a lawn mower. Lose one piston in a V8 and till me how far it will drive. I have going over the whole hating pistons thing. Because I like the LS series motors they are great. It is just taking a rare motor out of a rare car.
first, thankyou everyone for your nice comments

second, i agree with some of your statements, they do make power more linearly, however torque is a big factor in what i like in my cars, i do not think the rotary is a bad motor and running without an apex seal is outstanding, but piston motors have done incredible things, working at a dealership i see these things, piston motors running without hardly any oil (rotarys cant) broken valves (still run) rod knocks etc. i guess its not about which is better, its about where i want my power, the plan for me is to run it rotary for a while and try it...and see what i want from there. and i also understand the taking the rare motor out of a rare car, we will just have to see i guess, i keep an open mind

Perfect mind set !

i have ridden and driven in a lot of fast cars but still find my power band very enjoyable. not sure what kind of turbo setup is on your car but i have a GM8 similar to a to4s which hits fully boost around 3500. My car has respectable torque around 3500 and up, but when my wastegate opens and the car revs on out i feel like im on a two stroke dirt bike Some people like that and some don't.

talk to ruler mark he has a FD with a LS1 in it. that car is crazy. I will not tell how fast we were going or where but I told him "sorry about the nail marks on the roof of you car" from me gripping it so hard. There are kits out there to do it with a lot of support.

haha i am familiar with 2-stroke dirtbikes and love them to death, owned them all my life and i will have to hunt around for the setup that i will like on an FD power wise, but if it never tickles my marbles i will have to swap her out haha they look like pure sex stock so im pretty excited to see what i can do with it.

also,
thanks guys, and no i couldnt keep both, i made some poor choices law wise while driving her a few years ago and had to get rid of her, i bought another one and it just wasnt the same, so i liquidated all of my 240 parts since im getting out of the s-chassis game and have set my mind on an FD.

thanks guys, just picked up an FD friday, she needs a little work but i think im going to play with the rotary for a while, the previous owner neglected her so it was covered in about an inch of dust and had the top half of the engine torn apart, so i got it home and washed and buffed and waxed it, now the paint shines again and the interior is mint, i'll post pictures of it later and some progress ive made over the past 2 days, its a 1994 Montego blue R1
