20-year lurker, new member.

Hello everyone. I have been reading this forum for nearly 20 years, and wanting an FD for just as long.

When I was much younger I owned a black MX-3, which I put a 2.5L KLZE into. Many hours, dollars, and tears into that car...

I recently became the proud new owner of a beautiful, completely original, Silver Stone Metallic base model, and am thrilled beyond description. I'm extremely excited to be part of this community!

Yeah I do know a bit about its history. The previous owner made a big ordeal about passing it on to me, and we spent about half a day together during the sale.

The original owner was a retired gentleman who put about 24K miles not it. Not sure what the maintenance during that period looked like, unfortunately. The guy I bought it from had an interesting story. He’s a lawyer in Virginia who graduated law school in ‘93. He read some article about the FD embarrassing other sports cars at some race and subsequently visited one on the showroom floor. He struggled with not buying it, opting to pay off student loans instead. Some years later he was on a job in Guam when this car popped up for sale. He called his wife at what was 3am in Guam and told her she had to go get the car NOW. Apparently Peter Farrell (as in Peter Farrell Supercars) also wanted the car and was racing the wife to get to the seller first. The story is that when the wife arrived, the owner was on the phone with Mr. Farrell, and the wife took the phone out of the owners hand, said “Sorry the car is sold,” and hung up.

The lawyer had big plans for make the car 700hp, etc etc but life happened and he never ended up modifying a single thing. It’s been in his garage for 18 years, he drove it every two months or so, changed the oil every year, and flushed the coolant every two years.

Yeah I think the story really adds to the intrigue of the car.

It has 27K miles!

I'm traveling at the moment but I will get some shots of the inside when I return. Unfortunately the interior is one area that has not fared too well. Specifically it seems as though somebody has tried to do a (poor) restoration in the past or otherwise applied something to some of the plastics that has damaged them over time. I have a thread about it here: https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-gen-gene...stics-1139795/
