MInneapolis area rotary
Just got my 1982 rx7 working and was wondering if there were a couple of people in the area with similar cars?
New to rotary a and always willing to help wrench.

You will find a bunch of 2nd gens rolling around yet, myself included. A good handful of third gens as well. I catch a 1st gen here and again at various car shows I go to. Certainly look into "cars and coffee" at the automotoplex. Granted, I believe that show is now done for the year. (first saturday of the month, and be early if bringing a car to show).
Welcome to the community, and you chose a **** time of the year to play But, winters time to tinker on the cars any how.

West of Cities area
Welcome and I guess I should finally say hello as well to any Twin-Cities rotor-heads.
Moved up from the West Kentucky/Tennessee area about 2 years ago, and made sure to mount the engine back in my 1st Gen before trailering it up here. Made a daily driver for about a few years back while I was working with the 101, but deployments got intense and ended up starting a cold storage for it since 1st gens tend to be in a constant state of project.
There is another 1st gen in shaker can black that I see rolling around wayzata blvd over in long lake, mn once and a while and a few 2nd gens not in the clutches of someone unenlightened. Fighting through some rehabilitation for service connected injuries or I would be actively continuing the rebuild to make her at least startup again and do some gentle moving around next summer.
Not much help with the heavy lift bend right now, but I do some rudimentary knowledge from previous tear downs/rebuilds of the older 12A/12AT short kegs, engine crane, and starter tools.
Mine is a previous members barn build which I picked up over in Georgia and slugged the dog home to start making more bearable of a daily drive. I still have so much to learn including doing some old school tuning (current keg I have in there is another's members backup 12AT which blow-through turbos into carbs has been an experience).
Will continue to keep my eyes peeled more often so I can get smile for the day in the future.

I've got a few rotaries.
Do they run yet? Nope.
Will they run by the first cars and coffee meet? Maybe.
I'm located in Shakopee so if you're ever around and I'm not bombarded with school work I usually have some project to work on in my garage. Stop on by ahha.

I'm not in Minneapolis, but located in Northern, Minnesota and frequent BIR.
I had a 88 SE that had a rotary for about 7 years, did an LS1-T56 swap.
Have a GXL at the moment that is stellar shape, not a lot of TII swaps around so I do admit, I maybe going to the dark side again.
Otherwise I have a 56K mile GXL that is 99% original.

I've got an 88 rx7 in Minneapolis. I'm unfortunately moving and not able to bring my car with me. I was intending it as a SBF motor swap track car (have most of the parts). When I had time, there was no money. Now that there is some money, I've got no time...

Yeah I've run into you once out around the diner in Spring Park, your stuff is amazing, but you are also a pro who has been working on this masterpiece longer than a decade. I'm always impressed when I see your work.
Good question for you, with the work that you didn't do personally during the restoration what shop did you source the parts and labor hours from?

the biggest event for our group will probably be back to the 80s... last year they had about 10 cars... (which is disappointing seeing we have about 80 members)
The main guys who started the FB group (Myself, Jason Fox, Austin Lindahl and Phil Weix) have a few events we want to push as a group but we dont have the numbers or I should say the people turning up to hold a HUGE rotary only event...
Keep watching the group as we hope to get a BBQ together and push those meets/shows etc... anybody is welcome to throw an event or meet together and encourage members to 'show' up.... I know Maca Garcia shows up to a bunch of car events... Ive seen him at a few already this season...
Wednesday nights Buck Hill is starting up again soon... I try to make that most weeks...
