1997 FD owner from New Zealand

Hey guys

I signed up a couple months ago but have never posted so may aswell introduce myself.

My name is Dom and i am 18 years old from New Zealand and currently have a 1997 FD3S RX7 Type RS. I study in Auckland but from Whakatane. I have had the FD for almost 8 months now and all that time it has been in the shed. The turbos blew the 2nd day of ownership driving it home. Later the day i found out the guy who sold the car had lied about almost everything about the car and im really bummed as i saved so long to buy one to lose all my money. It is on adjustable suspension, has an arc intake and a chipped ecu. I will attach some pics of it below.

My instagram is @dombeal57 and my photography page @downbuzz__

Wow that sucks to get ripped off like that. Best of luck getting it fixed, it will be worth it. That is a nice RS!

FYI photobucket stopped allowing picture sharing on forums, but you can upload pictures directly to this forum instead. Alternatively use imgur or postimg.

Lucky to have a 1997 - we only had up to 1995 produced/sold here in Canada. Did they sell up to 1999 in NZ?

They're practically all JDM imports here. I think there was a total of 6 sold brand new in NZ!
The rules are a bit complex.
We can import anything over 20 years old,
Or import anything that meets the minimum emissions and crash standards; which standards apply changes every few years,
Or import any vehicle that meets Special Interest Vehicle rules. Some late model RX7s have been imported under this rule.

So we have an awesome mix of FDs from every generation

Beautiful car! I have an FC, but an Efini FD is my dream car. Best of luck getting your turbos fixed. Similar situation - a week after buying my rx7 I noticed low power -----> low compression :/ Such is life, I suppose.

Beautiful car! I have an Efini FD. A week after buying it I noticed the clutch was slipping, so I had to buy a new clutch. But now I have been driving the car as my daily for 6 years. Best of luck getting your turbos fixed.

Damn man some bad lucky you have. Most of the gaskets from the twins can be re-used. When I did my non seq setup on my car I re-used most of the gaskets. But new gaskets is always better.
