CA 1985 rx7 gs

So after being invited to a rotary meet by a friend, I instantly was hooked. I saved up enough cash to buy an '85 GS RX7, bonestock. Although it was running pretty smoothly when I bought it, the mileage is close to the 200,000 mile mark, and the PO had no idea if it had been rebuilt or not. I've rebuilt a Datsun 280z before, so I've decided to do a rebuild on the RX7. I'm interested in meeting other rotary lovers in the so-cal area, so if any of you are down, maybe grab a beer and talk about cars hmu!

Looks like a great car to start with! I would have compression checked it before pulling the engine. There's a chance that the engine had good compression and that there were no issues with it. Why did you remove the fenders, hood, header panel, and bumper?

I got a compression test done, rear rotor was pretty low. Unfortunately, she was backed into a few days after I got her when I took her out of the driveway to park on the street... The driver side fender was smashed in and shock absorber was bent in, you can sort of see it from the garage photo. A part of the bumper was left on the shock absorber lol. I stored away the remaining passenger fender and hood until the car is ready

Aw man, sorry to hear that. Sucks that you have to deal with that right off the rip. Glad you had the engine checked out before yanking it. That was a smart move!
