I recently got my hands on on a 82' that has been sitting in a garage since 1994. It does not have any keys, but the title was there. The original owner had passed away, and his son wanted to simply 'get rid of it'. He called a local tow truck driver, who called me as soon as he had it on his truck. I have 'rescued' several cars under those circumstances. All of them being American, except for a Maserati.....aka Italian junk.
This car is in excellent condition and even the tires aren't dry rotted. The garage was actually the basement of the house, so that explains why is was heated, but also explained why it is musty in the interior. This car has under 27,000 miles on it. I have to assume it hasn't ran since 1994 since everything that was in the car was dated to back then. It has a Targa band, and Kamei body kit, that was sadly destroyed coming off the tow truck. Hopefully it will be salvageable after a little abs cement, acetone, and mesh.
After getting the run-around from several locksmiths, I found one who will cut some keys with the passenger door lock. My main concern is if the apex seals will still be good after all these years. Once I get the keys, I will get into draining all the fluids and soaking the engine in some Marvel or something fo 24hrs. I am new to this, and have never posted anything on any forum ever, I'll post pics when I figure it out.
