1981 RX7 GSL Original Owner

I'm the original owner of this great sports car. When I was a kid I raced go carts...going 90 to 100 mph only one inch off the ground. So when I test drove this brand new !981 RX7, I had to have it. Test drove many other makes, but loved the feel and cornering of the RX7, which was very similar to racing a go-cart.

I have a driver side power window that is giving me problems. Needs my assistance going up. Probably a Glass Run Channel issue?? Any Thoughts will be welcome...???

I only have 70K miles on it, mostly from my long commute years ago. For the past 20 years I only drive it about 200 or 300 miles each summer. It's never seen snow and always garaged when not on the road.

Welcome to the forums. Always nice to see original owners find there way here. No experience with power windows, I've only ever had SA cars (79/80) with manual cranks. But our cars are pretty simple compared to today and I'm sure you'll find someone that knows what the common issues are. Maybe it just needs a good cleaning and some lube after 40 years. This site is a good place to learn about these fantastic little machines. Load some pics of your baby, we never get tired of seeing pics of whats still out there.

Welcome to the forum! Would love to see pictures of the car! How was the purchasing experience when you bought the car? Did you drive by and see it and stop in or did you go to the Mazda dealer specifically to see the RX-7? As for the window issue, sometimes the window run channel seal fails and binds the window and sometimes the glass loosens on the regulator. We can go into more detail in the 1st Gen section.
