Yes another "remove the stock headunit" question

I can't get this damn thing out. I have a 94 PEP without the Bose garbage, I removed the side covers that reveal the holes, bought the little removal tools, and the thing doesn't come out. Nothing "snaps in" when I insert them, I go about .75" and they stop. I can wiggle them past that point, pull outward, and remove the pins but they catch on nothing. I've searched and read other threads and no one seemed to have this much trouble.

What the hell am I doing wrong?

Bah, just got it. I wasn't pulling hard enough, thought I might break something like I usually do.

Yay, bumping this back up because I suck.

I have the stock system out but the wire seems to run below the tape deck, do I have to remove both of them to get at the plug on the CD player?
